Saturday was the perfect day for being on the lake enjoying the heat and sun. Unfortunately I spent most of Saturday at a school carwash. Sure it was fun, but it prevented me from getting on the lake until later in the day. But get on the lake I did and the weather was great. D was driving so Bobby got a chance to tip back a few Corona before dinner.
As you can see, dinner with D is never a simple affair. She even had to use the fine china instead of the usual paper plates which I prefer!
The Matrix17/GPS navigation system worked exceptionally well and, as you can see, D did a credible job of navigating - except for the one Poseidon moment when part of the front deck got ripped off! More repair work for Bobby next week. By the way - note the blazing speed at which the old boat cuts through the water. Earlier in the day we tested the old barge at top speed - an amazing 7.5 mph!!!
This is my first attempt at blogging though I must admit I do enjoy reading the rants and raves of others. At first I thought I would be able to stand up on my soapbox and vent as I saw fit, however, I now realize that people whom I know may actually read this stuff and therefore I will have to edit my comments - hopefully not too much.

Weekly Cartel Update - May 26
A busy weekend for Bob, starting off with the weekly visit to Wild Wing. Though 50% of the female population failed to show (D was missing this week) LED surpassed all expectations with her Kangaroo Salt & Pepper set which Tanya (the lovely) pounced on and claimed as her own. Poor Jenny didn't stand a chance.
After Wild Wing we were off to the movies - yep - The DaVinci Code. I thought it was pretty boring and at one point fell asleep, however, Dr. DC and LED thought it was great - go figure - I guess my standards are higher.

Great Commercials #4
Today's Entry - this is too funny - and instructional. Don't prejudge from my attached picture. All of these commercials are safe to view. Now it is off to the houseboat for the last of the repairs before next weekend.

Weekly Cartel Update - May 19
Since the meeting had not been planned, Friday at Wild Wing was more like a simple dinner of wings and beer than a regular Cartel meeting. Dr. DC had been assisting me with boat repairs and the need to feed struck us late Friday. Consequently, the females members were not invited and it was more like the old days with Dr. DC at his flirting best. Though I must be honest, Dr. DC at his best is nothing to write home about. He did buy dinner though so I can't complain.
Anyway, as always, Dr. DC was prepared and presented a Salt & Pepper set, in the shape of large pears, to our favourite girls at Wild Wing. The S & P set looked so real that the girls were momentarily confused and tried to eat the 'pears'. Our thanks to Jenny and Tanya (who had her hair streaked for the occasion) for a wonderful night of beer and wings.
Following dinner we did not go to a movie since I had to drive back to the school to pick up more supplies and was back at the boat Saturday in order to finish the repairs. Luckily the weekend weather was crappy with cold temperatures and high winds so I did not mind spending the time on repairs and re-wiring the boat to install a new GPS system.

Spring Cleaning
I've been hanging onto this photo for a while now without knowing how I was going to fit it into some rant about the evils of women. But, it is spring cleaning time and I must get rid of it off my desktop - so ...............

Great Commercials #1
This morning I ran across a site which is packed with hilarious videos and I thought I would share a few of these with you over the next few days. A warning to my judgmental Catholic blogger - the video relies heavily on the Darwin theory of evolution!

Super Raining Super Fun
Here it is one day away from the long weekend and I am without energy. Tomorrow is the school's annual Super Learning Super Fun day where we invite some eighty grade 8 students to our school for a day of fun filled activities. Although I have had a limited role in the planning of this year's event, tomorrow I will be expected to walk, run, cheer and take part in the games. I think I need to get to bed early tonight if I am going to survive.
My only bright light was the fact that we are going into a three day weekend and I was looking forward to getting out on my boat and playing with my new GPS for a few days. Unfortunately the weather man has decided to piss on my parade as the forecast for the weekend doesn't look good with low temperatures, rain and strong winds. Grrrrrrrrr.

Howling at the Moon
Mother Nature and the Weatherman seemed bound and determined to prevent me from getting on the boat this weekend, however, despite the forecast of high winds and rain I took off Friday night under clear skies and a light wind.
As night fell the moon rose in all its splendor and young Bobby was perched on the roof with a wee bottle in his hand and a howl in his throat. My modesty prevented me from howling naked at the moon as I am wont to do - that is until the sky darkened sufficiently.
Ah - the freedom! I owned the lake that night.
The next morning was wonderfully calm and sunny. The fishermen were out which motivated me to install my fishfinder.
As can be seen the water temperature was a tad cold. Still too early in the season to swim.
After a quick breakfast and some minor repairs, I headed back to the marina as the forecast for that day called for thunderstorms. All in all I accomplished my long standing goal of howling at the moon. Next time it should be warm enough to spend the night sleeping on top of the boat.

Weekly Cartel Update - May 5
I must apologize to the Cartel members for the lateness of this week's update. I was busy with a bake sale this weekend as well as trying to get the houseboat ready for it's maiden voyage this coming weekend. The time to howl at the moon approaches.
This week the full Cartel, along with honourary guest ( Mr. B. ), was in attendance at Wild Wing. The strength of five! The Salt & Pepper set ( a set of cute little bunnies that look like pigs ) was provided by Darlene and was presented to Jenny. Ahhh - Jenny, we haven't seen her since last August when she left us and went off to university. It was good to see her back as her radiant smile brought back memories of warmer weather and cold beer.
After Wild Wing we were off to see MI3. A fair amount of action but sorely lacking in scantily dressed hot babes. In fact the movie was more of a chick flick than an action film. I think Tom is getting soft in his old age.

Time Wasting Game
A few weeks ago a friend directed me to this web game. It is a Japanese site so read the instructions before you venture to the web site. It is not terribly complicated but it is a fun variation on an old theme.
Instructions for Everybody Has To Cross The River.
The following rules apply:
Only 2 persons on the raft at a time
The father can not stay with any of the daughters, without their mother's presence
The mother can not stay with any of the sons, without their father's presence
The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family member, if the policeman is not there
Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft
To start click on the big blue circle on the right.
To move the people click on them.
To move the raft click on the pole on the opposite side of the river.

Hockey Night in Canada
Well I must say, after last night it is a sad day in this house. With both the Leafs and Canadians gone I'm not sure who I am going to cheer for now. Certainly not the much hated Senators or Flames. I guess I'm down to the Oilers - and even that is going to pain me. The only consolation is that houseboating season is right around the corner and I can avoid the entire game until next year.

Finally - May !
Here we are - finally in May. Thirteen days from now I shall be on the top of my boat howling at the full moon. The anticipation for this yearly event is at an all time high. My hopes are that Miss May will be able to join me.
Other activites for the month include; Bobby's Fund Raiser Bake Sale this weekend (for the school - not me - even though I need it after having recently completed my taxes) and a school car wash later in the month. Then exams in June and then I am free for another summer.
